The Framework was signed by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, followed by his meetings with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Sunday.
Discussion between Marco Rubio and Ajit Doval focused on defence, security and strategic technology related cooperation including the TRUST initiative.
On his social media platform, US President Donald Trump suggested that both the sides must take their time and get it done right.
Marco Rubio's maiden trip to India comes after Donald Trump administration's trade and tariff policies.
Speaking at the joint press conference with EAM Dr S Jaishankar in Delhi, Marco Rubio acknowledged that offensive comments do exist but called them as the actions of a fringe section of people present in every society.
Outlining India’s broad framework on international crisis, Jaishankar said India continues to favour dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the primary route for resolving conflicts.
Speaking in New Delhi, Marco Rubio said the potential peace deal with Iran would address concerns regarding the Strait of Hormuz, which was blocked by Tehran in response to the deadly attacks by the US and Israel earlier this year.
Secretary Rubio, however, asserted that the US will never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons and ensure the Strait of Hormuz is reopened without any toll.
Secretary Rubio briefed the Prime Minister on the sustained progress in bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including defence, strategic technologies, trade and investment and energy security.
