Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said Friday that the government held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with representatives from Chile, Oman, the Netherlands, the Maldives, Germany and Egypt to deepen trade, investment and strategic cooperation.
“The government is examining these requests while considering India’s own refining capacity, domestic requirements, and fuel availability,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

The ban will also apply to visitors entering the Maldives, a South Asian country popular for luxury tourism and home to 1,191 small coral islets.

The recent election of President-elect Mohamed Muizzu in the Maldives and his renewed commitment to remove Indian military personnel from the country have introduced a complex and evolving dimension to India’s foreign policy in the region.
