A CBI team took charge of the senior Nationalist Congress Party leader Deshmukh from the Arthur Road Central Jail -- where he has been in judicial custody of the Special PMLA Court since over five months -- and placed him under arrest for further investigations.
The criminal Public Interest Litigation reiterated the allegations Singh had made earlier and sought an “immediate, unbiased, impartial” probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation against Deshmukh, an NCP leader.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Singh, said they would file a petition in the high court today itself and the apex court can say that the high court should take it up on Thursday.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday said that there was no question of Anil Deshmukh's resignation in the wake of the sensational allegations levelled against him by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
However, Anil Deshmukh said on Saturday that the threads of the investigation being carried out against Sachin Vaze in the SUV case are leading to former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
Hitting back at Singh, Deshmukh tweeted that the ex-Mumbai police chief was leveling false allegations against him to save himself from action in the SUV case and the case related to the death of Mansukh Hiran.
"The NIA and ATS are investigating the matter in depth. The state government is fully cooperating with the NIA... Both their probes are proceeding in the right direction," informed Deshmukh.
He urged those people to voluntarily come forward and get in touch with the state government authorities.
