The Delhi Police updated the FIR with Section 197 of the BNS after a protest at India Gate where participants allegedly held posters of Maoist commander Madvi Hidma and used pepper spray on police personnel. Twenty-three arrests were made, and the investigation is ongoing.
Addressing media persons, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stated “pollution of Marx and Mao” is denser in the brains of the agitators and that the “real face” of protestors had been revealed.
The Delhi Police earlier said in a statement that a group yesterday held a protest at India Gate over air pollution in the Delhi-National Capital Region. However, the protesters carried posters of Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, who was recently killed in an encounter with security forces.
Digvijaya Singh shared the video of tribal activist Soni Sori, in which she raised questions on the timeline of events provided by the police regarding the encounter and Hidma’s killing.
The individuals arrested today include senior leaders, logistics and communication operatives, armed platoon members and party cadres. Many of them are closely linked to central committee member, Madvi Hidma, police said.
Hidma was killed along with five other associates in a joint operation near the Chhattisgarh–Andhra Pradesh border.
The security forces gunned down Hidma and five others, including his wife, at Maredumilli while they were trying to enter the state through Alluri Sitharam Raju (ASR) district in Andhra Pradesh.
