Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday performed the traditional 'Kanya Pujan' (worship of young girls) on the auspicious occasion of Shardiya Navratri on the day of 'Maha Navami' at the government girls' school in Haiderpur in North-West Delhi.
Kanya Pujan is a sacred Navratri ritual where young girls, seen as embodiments of Goddess Durga, are worshiped and honored. People believe it brings blessings, prosperity, and positive energy into homes.
Following traditional rituals, the CM washed the feet of nine girls and worshiped them as per the rituals, including covering them with chunari, performing aarti, serving them food with devotion, and seeking their blessings by offering them 'Dakshina'.
Prayers are offered to Goddess Durga and as a ritual little girls below the age of 10 considered as an embodiment of Devi Shakti are worshipped by way of Kanya Pujan.
