Security and intelligence networks, both by Central and state agencies, are on high alert following intelligence inputs about plans of Bangladesh-based fundamentalist group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to set up modules in minority-dominated pockets in seven districts of West Bengal.
Sources aware of the development said that these pockets have been kept under special surveillance, including those districts that share International Borders with Bangladesh, with additional focus on the two minority-dominated Murshidabad and Malda.
Intelligence agencies, both central and state, have been put on high alert in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, especially in the villages close to the international border, following inputs on fresh attempts by Bangladesh-based underground outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HUT) trying to infiltrate.
The source said that the JMB cadres use to run madrasas in several parts of West Bengal and from there, they use to identify the girls to marry with their cadres. He said that when the girls were married with their cadres, the other family members of the girls were also recruited into the terror organisation.
As many as 15 neo-JMB terrorists have sneaked into Bengal, and 10 of them are moving around in various parts of the country.
The 35-year-old JMB operative is originally from Nityanandapur village in Bhatar of East Burdwan district.
