The Delhi government will submit an official request to the Haryana government to transfer control over the ITO barrage.
After an inspection of the Yamuna on boat at Signature Bridge and ITO Barrage, Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma said 1,300 tonnes of refuse has been extracted from the waterway in the last ten days to pave the way for a ferry service being planned by the government.
The Minister on Tuesday inspected the ITO barrage and the river bed area and took stock of the situation, and reviewed the de-silting works that were done to prevent the river from flooding like it happened last year.
Khattar said the Haryana government wants to know the truth about the non-opening of five gates of ITO barrage with full impartiality. The state government is working promptly in providing relief to the flood-affected people, he added.
