Minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai, recently visited key Indo-Nepal border areas under the jurisdiction of the 41st Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), including Panitanki and Gaurasingh Basti, which fall under the Siliguri Frontier.
The 18th Indo-Nepal Joint Exercise, Surya Kiran, is currently underway in Nepal, highlighting the enduring partnership between the two armies. The exercise serves as a critical platform for both nations to exchange best practices, enhance military expertise, and strengthen cooperation.
The train services between Jainagar in India and Kurtha in Nepal was inaugurated on Saturday after delegates-level meeting between the two leaders. The passenger train services have been built under India's Grant Assistance.
The temporary setbacks in relations between India and Nepal are now a thing of the past, bilateral relations between Delhi and Kathmandu have been improving steadily since Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba took over as the Prime Minister of Nepal in July 2021. Deuba will be arriving in Delhi on April 1, 2022, on a three-day visit, his first foreign visit since taking over as the Prime Minister of the Himalayan country. It is expected that the visit will inject a new momentum to the bilateral ties, especially in areas of trade, investment, healthcare and connectivity.
