Indian markets rallied on Friday as Sensex closed 203 points up at 59,959.85 and Nifty50 rallied 49 points to end at 17,786.80, picking up on mixed global cues. The rally in Indian stock indices continued as they jumped during nine out of the past 10 sessions.
Indices of Indian markets fell on Tuesday after gaining for seven consecutive days as BSE Sensex dipped 287.70 points to 59,543.96 while Nifty50 went down by 74 points to settle at a 17,656 level.
Indian stock indices extended their gains for the fourth straight session on Wednesday, as the 30-share Sensex surged 147 points and closed at 59,107.19 while the Nifty50 rose 25 points to close at 17,512.25.
The 30 stock S&P BSE Sensex surged by 549.62 points or 0.94 per cent to 58,960.60 points against its previous day's close at 58,410.98 points. The Sensex started the day in the positive at 58,744.13 points and surged to a high of 59,143.66 points in the intra-day.
At 10.17 am, Sensex traded at 59,086.44 points, up 675.46 points or 1.16 per cent, whereas Nifty traded at 17,504.85 points, up 193.05 points or 1.12 per cent.
The 30 stock S&P BSE Sensex ended the day at 58,222.10 points, which is 156.63 points or 0.27 per cent higher than its previous session's close at 58,065.47 points. Tracking the rally in the global equities markets, the Sensex started the day sharply higher at 58,314.05 points and soared to a high of 58,578.76 points.
The Indian stock market's key indices, Sensex and Nifty, surged by more than 2 per cent on Tuesday led by strong buying support in heavyweights TCS, ITC, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries amid strong global cues.
Indian markets on Friday were volatile and in negative territory during the morning trade. At 9.25 IST, the 30-share Sensex fell 0.33 per cent to 56,224 while the Nifty was down 0.31 per cent to 16,786, as market participants track global cues and wait for RBI announcements.
The benchmark indices on Indian equity markets closed flat on Thursday, due to the selling pressure prevalent in global markets. The S&P BSE ended 0.33 per cent lower at 56,409 level, 188 points down from the previous session while Nifty50 closed at 16,818, down 41 points.
