Admiral Kumar said the Navy will continue taking affirmative action to prevent such incidents, adding that 'Operation Sankalp', the naval operation to secure the crew of Bulgaria-flagged merchant vessel MV Ruen, has broken the myth of short and swift operations and stressed the need for sustained interventions to ensure the safety and stability of shipping assets in the oceans.
The primary role of a shallow watercraft is to conduct antisubmarine operations in coastal waters, low-intensity maritime operations and in mine laying operations. The craft is capable of full-scale sub-surface surveillance of coastal waters, Search Attack Unit (SAU) and coordinated ASW operations with aircraft.

The heli dropped task force operated in the snow-clad regions at heights over 9000 feet. The Heli Borne task force included troops from Infantry, Special Forces, and the MARCOS from the Indian Navy.

Navy sources said the force has been discussing the possible deployment of the UAVs for a while and an area prioritization survey is also afoot. It is learnt that if implemented, a UAV squadron may be based out of the Behala Flying Club in the city
