The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi today hinted at India’s plans to establish a missile force comprising long-range rockets, citing the growing need of the hour.
Indian Army chief, Gen Manoj Pande arrived in Nepal on Sunday on a five-day official visit during which he will have extensive talks with the country’s top civil and military leadership.
Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane said that there was an increase in the seizure of arms and ammunition from Afghanistan in Kashmir.
"Ceasefire with Pakistan continues to hold as we negotiated from a position of strength," Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane had said on Thursday.
The Chiefs are also scheduled to meet the prodigious soldiers who earned laurels for the Nation in the recently concluded Olympic Games at Tokyo.
While highlighting the various force modernisation measures being undertaken, he emphasised that soldiers must also keep themselves abreast with latest trends in Information Technology, emerging cyber threats, and counter-measures.
Indian Embassy said Gen Naravane's visit would deepen bonds of friendship.
During the visit, Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will confer the rank of the Honorary General of the Nepal Army on Gen Naravane.
His visit to forward location was expected, said source in the forces. The Army chief would be discussing strategy over how to thwart Chinese incursion attempts.
The Hurriyat is not akin to the Taliban, which would someday form part of the government in Afghanistan. Neither does it represent the Kashmiri public, as it claims to.
