Paralympic gold medallist Sumit Antil broke his own world record in the Men’s Javelin Throw F64 event with a 74.82m effort at the Indian Open International Para Athletics Championships 2026 in Bengaluru.
Colombia and Kenya finished second and third with 11 and six gold medals respectively from 20 medals each, while hosts UAE placed fourth with six gold in a total of 31 medals at the season’s first World Para Athletics Grand Prix meet.
The Indian challenge will be led by reigning Paris 2024 Paralympic javelin champions Sumit Antil (F64) and Navdeep (F41), with the 50-member squad also featuring two-time Paris 2024 medallist Preeti Pal and women’s 200m T12 bronze medallist Simran.
