In the Delhi pro-Naxal protests carried out under the semblance of agitation against air pollution at India Gate, police have traced alleged Naxalite links of Akshay ER, the protester accused of attacking a police official with chili spray.
He further claimed that multiple other videos are being retrieved from social media, allegedly showing the students' links to and support for the Naxalite movement.
The Delhi Police stated that they need to confront the accused with each other to unearth the entire conspiracy.
“Upadhyay has three linear abrasions of one centimeter with redness. Vishnu Kumar Tiwari has a bluish-red bruise measuring 2.2 cm on the right side of his neck,” the report stated.
The Delhi Police updated the FIR with Section 197 of the BNS after a protest at India Gate where participants allegedly held posters of Maoist commander Madvi Hidma and used pepper spray on police personnel. Twenty-three arrests were made, and the investigation is ongoing.
The viral image depicted Akshay as a victim of police force. However, the police's official account, detailed in the FIR, identifies him as a key perpetrator in the incident.
They have been sent to judicial custody and will be lodged at Rohini Jail, while the minor will be held at a safe house. Police stated they are verifying the minor's age.
