Padmashri Geeta Chandran conceived and curated the two-day event that celebrated the vibrancy of Indian dance across styles and generations.
In an exclusive interaction with Surya S Pillai of The Statesman, the acclaimed artist opens up about her journey into the world of dance, the current crop of young dancers and the pathetic state of art education in the country.
The artist started dancing at the age of five and has spent the last 55 years teaching and performing classical dance on various stages worldwide.
Asked about her upcoming performance, she said that the solo Bharatanatyam recital will answer a question she herself has asked herself: As an urban, urbane, educated dancer and artist, what is my Bhakti story?
The events will take place at the India International Centre on Saturday, 27 April and Sunday, 28 April.
