A drainage pumping station is coming up at Rishikesh Park. Mayor Firhad Hakim visited the construction site and is hopeful that the pumping station will be inaugurated soon.
Firhad Hakim asserted that no public representative can intervene in the 'judicial matters'.

“Minister Hakim called me today and requested me to reconsider my decision. He has also asked me to meet him at his office at Writers’ Buildings on Tuesday evening to discuss the issue. We would stick to our demand to withdraw Babul as a candidate with Trinamul Congress ticket,” Yahiya said.
In a major surprise, Mr Bidhan Upadhyay, MLA of Baraboni & Burdwan West district president of TMC has been appointed as the new mayor of Asansol Municipal Corporation. He has never contested in any civic polls, though for the past few years has shifted to Shriti Nagar in Asansol town from Baraboni area
He highlighted, as per an agreement with the Kolkata Port, in the next two to three months RO-RO vessel services will be introduced for Calcutta-bound goods vehicles which will reduce the load on the second Hooghly Bridge. He added that electric trolleybuses will be introduced by next March if the trials are successful
“Waterlogging in Behala will be solved when the Asian Development Bank project that includes canal desiltation work, gets completed. In Kidderpore, one more pumping station will be set up. Areas like Lake Gardens and Amherst Street will also get a pumping station and undergo desiltation work. The same would happen in Tollygunge and Jadavpur.” Hakim said the KMC will soon start ‘Show the Mayor’ programme which will be on the lines of the Talk to Mayor.
He alleged that the discharge of large cusecs of water by DVC increased the level of silt in the Ganges. He said that treatment plants are not being able to filter to their full capacity due to the same.
