The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Tuesday launched Atal, the fifth vessel in a series of eight Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) being built by Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL).
Speaking on the occasion, Rajnath described the handing over of the two ‘Made in India’ platforms as a symbol of the shared commitment of India and the Maldives towards peace and security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
Modi and Ramkalawan also inaugurated a solar power plant, a court building and ten community development projects in the Indian Ocean island. The patrol vessel as well as the three other projects are part of India's development assistance to that country
