On the occasion, the chief minister directed deployment of drones in a pilot project aimed at monitoring crop health and detecting diseases. He stated that this initiative would provide farmers with timely information to help prevent crop losses.
From early detection of algal blooms to feed broadcasting in mariculture to rescue operations during emergency situations, drone technology is expected to revolutionise India’s marine fisheries sector.
The Union Information and Broadcasting said the Prime Minister once remarked that ‘India has a billion solutions to a million problems. As a country of a billion plus people, India is increasingly leveraging technology to stay ahead of the curve.
This Centre is envisaged to evolve as a unique facility at the national level wherein state-of-the-art and frontier research would be conducted on several aspects of Drone technology, including Drone development, Drone applications and Anti-Drone technology.
