CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in Bihar, alleging democratic institutions were weakening, dissent was being suppressed and policies were increasingly favouring corporate interests at the cost of the poor and marginalised.
Announcing this at a press conference attended by all the alliance partners, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said that the decision was made with the consent of his party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi.
Addressing party leaders and workers in Patna on Thursday, he stated that following the imposition of Emergency in 1975, the people fought back, ultimately forcing Indira Gandhi’s concession of defeat.
