The matter came up before the Delhi High Court after club members, the Staff Welfare Association and other parties challenged the Union government’s order directing the club to hand over possession of the property situated in the high-security Lutyens’ Delhi zone.
The petition was mentioned before Justice Avneesh Jhingan on Monday by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who sought an urgent hearing on behalf of club member Vijay Khurana. The Delhi HC agreed to take up the matter on May 26.
The PIL was filed by Rubika Thapa, who also claimed that some of these applications were allegedly linked to immoral trafficking, prostitution, substance abuse, illegal arms trade, extortion rackets and organised criminal networks.
A bench of Justice V Kameswar Rao and Justice Manmeet Arora was hearing a PIL filed by advocate Vaibhav Singh. The plea alleges that Kejriwal, Sisodia, journalist Ravish Kumar, and others recorded and circulated court proceedings on social media without permission.
The petition, filed by advocate Vaibhav Singh, accuses Kejriwal, several leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, and journalist Ravish Kumar of publishing videos of court proceedings related to the excise policy case. The videos reportedly show Kejriwal arguing his plea seeking the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
Ahead of the hearing, Kejriwal appeared before the court and informed the bench that he had moved a recusal application. He stated that he would argue the matter in person.
