Security has been stepped up across Old Delhi after intelligence inputs warned of a possible improvised explosive device plot targeting religious sites.
Several digital devices and other incriminating materials were seized during the raids conducted at the premises of various accused and suspects in the two states.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently carrying out search operations in South Kashmir in connection with the November 10 Delhi Blast case.
According to officials, the arrest was made after investigators found the Imam’s alleged links with the main accused, Umar-un-Nabi.
The probe into the Delhi blast case has revealed fissures in the terror group behind the incident, sources in the NIA claimed, adding that Dr Umar Nabi -- the suicide bomber who exploded an i20 car outside the Red Fort -- followed the ISIS “Daesh” module, while the rest of his associates followed the Al-Qaeda module.
The investigation into the Delhi blast case has expanded to West Bengal, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) interrogating a suspect currently held in a Kolkata jail.
The Delhi blast is an indicator that India’s war on terror is nowhere near concluding, despite conveying strong messages to Islamabad by means of military strikes.
In continuation of the recent high-alert situation following the terror attacks in Delhi, the authorities of the Eastern Railway have deployed two additional companies from the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) at Howrah station.
At the start of the meeting, tributes were paid and two minutes of silence were observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the recent car bomb blast in Delhi and the explosion at the Nowgam Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, also a Kashmiri resident, was arrested from Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir by an NIA team that was in the Valley in the case," said the NIA official.
