Opposition Congress legislators on Thursday carried out a march and staged a demonstration at the Porch of the Rajasthan assembly here in protest against alleged compromise on the interests of India's agriculture and dairy sectors, in the India-US trade deal.
Greer also claimed that India has agreed to eliminate tariffs on industrial goods under the trade agreement with the United States, cutting average levies to zero from the current 13.5 per cent.
With no GST on milk and cheese and the tax rate on butter and ghee reduced from 12 per cent to 5 per cent, the prices of these products will come down, which will boost demand and lead to higher growth in the dairy sector, benefiting farmers and livestock owners.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will inaugurate the “Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in Dairy Sector” on Monday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
