India recorded its highest ever coal production of 997.826 million tonnes (MT) in the financial year 2023-24 which represents an 11.71 per cent increase in comparison to the corresponding figure of 893.191 MT in the year 2022-23, according to the year-end review of the Coal Ministry.
The Ministry of Coal is closely coordinating with state governments and Central ministries concerned to operationalise mines auctioned earlier on the fast track.
The ministry said the total domestic coal production was 18 per cent higher than in the same period of the previous year with Coal India Limited (CIL), achieving a growth of 17.5 per cent.
