One of the key contests announced is the bye-election for the Nagpur Local Authorities’ Constituency. The vacancy arose after Chandrashekhar Krishnaraoji Bawankule resigned from the MLC following his election as MLA in November 2024.
The minister's move is aimed at breaking the racket of illegally obtained birth and death certificates based on forged documents in the state.
"Sanjay Raut's statement is merely a political stunt. There is no rule in the BJP that Modi should retire from politics after 75, nor has there been any such decision, ” Bawankule tweeted on his X handle on Tuesday.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, BJP president in Maharashtra, said that at least 3000 voters were registered for two Assembly constituencies, who, according to him, belonged to one particular community.
BJP chief JP Nadda attended the meeting. Bawankule said the meeting was attended by all leaders and party workers.
