The Election Commission of India on Tuesday directed Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Central Armed Police Forces deployed in West Bengal to enforce “zero tolerance” towards any incidents of post-poll violence, stressing the need for strict and immediate action to maintain law and order following the Assembly election results.
In a significant development, the Election Commission of India has decided to deploy as many as 2,400 companies of central armed police forces across the state in the upcoming assembly election to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling.
According to a police order issued late Friday night, the battalion headquarters has been advised to ensure maximum mobilisation of the forces personnel at the battalion headquarters.
