This project is being undertaken under the agreement signed by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his Haryana counterpart Saini in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi two years ago.
In addition, two states (Uttar Pradesh and Tripura) have reported to have made recovery from contractors on account of liquidated damages, while two states (Karnataka and Tripura) on account of forfeiture of EMD/ FDR, Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil said in a written reply.
The Committee noted with satisfaction that the states of Haryana and Rajasthan are working together for the implementation of the project for transfer of Rajasthan’s share of Yamuna river to water scarce regions in Rajasthan at the earliest.
Minister for Jal Shakti C R Patil asked the states to evolve a consensus on their respective river interlinking projects for the progress in the development of the country.
