Kokate has also sought a stay on his conviction to continue serving as an elected representative, and the Bombay High Court has agreed to hear his plea on Friday, December 19.
The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court headed by Justice Anil Kilor asked for the Maharashtra State Election Commission's response to the petition by next week.
