"This surveillance system will help eliminate such practices that deprive defenceless and vulnerable animals of proper care,” Manoj Kumar Oraon said.
The Park had seen good footfall and a good rise in revenue collection ever since the safari began there in 2014, while new features like the toy train and Nature Interpretation Centre have been added recently.
There are four tigers in the park presently--three female and one male. Among the four tigers, two are cubs- -Rika, Kika-and the two adult ones are Sheela and Vivan.
The forest department had undertaken the construction of the road with an estimate budget of Rs 4.5 crore.
Mr Asis Kumar Samanta, director of the Zoological Garden said that just like humans, animals too suffer from the extreme heat and delayed monsoon.
"I wished to bring a pair of giraffe for the Bengal Safari, but I could not do so as the Zoo Authority of India is allowing us to keep only birds and animals that belong to the Himalayan range."
An official said the leopard safari was suspended on Thursday, but they, however, allowed those who had already bought their tickets online and in advance to enjoy the safari.
