As the blast took place on Friday at midnight no one was hurt in the detonation. Hailakandi district Superintendent of Police Gaurav Upadhyay, who visited the explosion site, said that they are now probing who is behind the explosion.
Though no fresh incident has since then happened along the 164.6-km inter-state border between Assam and Mizoram, tension has been prevailing, and no "normal" movement of people and vehicles has taken place between the two northeastern states in the past week.

The Assam Chief Minister, during the ongoing Assembly session, said that 1,777 hectares of land in the three districts bordering Mizoram have been encroached by Mizos.
