With the West Bengal Assembly elections drawing closer, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sharpened her attack on the BJP, warning that the state’s linguistic and cultural identity is at risk if her party loses power.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, BJP had a 10% vote share and won 3 seats. In 2021, the party’s vote share climbed to 38%, translating into 77 seats.
The meeting was originally supposed to have been held at Nabanna only on November 5, but was cancelled due to other engagements of the Union Home Minister.
