The All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) organised a shutdown of medical stores on Wednesday to protest against the growing online sale of medicines and the lack of stricter regulations governing e-pharmacy platforms.
Several pharmacy associations across states have refused to join the AIOCD strike, ensuring continued medicine access despite protests over online pharmacy regulations.
The service will allow customers to order prescription-based medication, over-the-counter medicines, basic health devices and Ayurveda medication from certified sellers.
The letter is also addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top ministers, and government officials.
