The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has registered an FIR against an Haryana Civil Services officer of 2016 batch currently holding the charge of member secretary, Haryana Vimukt Ghumantu Jati Vikas Board and three of his family members – an uncle and two brothers – in a case of extortion, cheating and bribery.
The officer and one of his brothers have been arrested following evidence coming on record to prove the allegations of demand and acceptance of Rs 9,60,000 from a woman candidate on the pretext of ensuring her victory in the recently held Nuh Zila Parishad election.
Sharing this information on Tuesday, a Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said the arrested accused have been identified as HCS officer Wakeel Ahmed and his brother Fakrudeen.
The complainant, a resident of Tauru, has alleged that the accused HCS officer and his family members were demanding bribe worth Rs 10 lakh in lieu of helping his daughter-in-law in
Nuh Zila Parishad election (ward number three) by manipulating the election process using the influence of the HCS officer, and in the process, they had obtained Rs 9,60,000 from the complainant.
After verification of the facts, the Bureau found that the allegations of bribery and corruption were proved against the HCS officer and his family members. The officer was posted as estate officer, HSVP, Panipat at that time.
A case has been registered against the accused persons under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code in the Bureau’s police station Gurugram and further probe is underway, the spokesperson said.
