Starlets Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe are among the hottest properties in world football and the forwards have been linking up to devastating effect in France training, with a Instagram video of them humiliating their Les Blues teammates in a training session, perhaps unsurprisingly, having gone viral.

The ease with which the duo is able to interchange passes and finish off moves will please France boss Didier Deschamps to no end as the European powerhouse prepares to take on South American giants Colombia in a high-profile international friendly on Friday night.

With the 2018 FIFA World Cup less than three months away, competition for places in France’s squad is immense and the fact that Dembele has started to hit his stride for Barcelona bodes well for his club and country both.

The La Bluagrana forward became the club’s record signing when he transferred from Borussia Dortmund for a mammoth fee of €105 million at the start of the season, but initially it seemed he was struggling with the weight of expectations.

Considering he’s still only 20, most of the criticism was a bit unwarranted, but the young winger has managed to turn things around somewhat in recent weeks by starring in the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League both.

The 19-year-old Mbappe has been in top form since the start of the season, however, many experts feel that has a lot to do with the skewed nature of the French top-flight due to Paris Saint-Germain’s overwhelming financial superiority.

The immense quality at Deschamps’ disposal makes Les Blues one of the favourites to emerge winners in Russia, just two years after suffering heartbreak in the UEFA Euro 2016 final at the hands of underdogs Portugal.

France play two friendlies in the final international break before the current season concludes and their next opponents after Colombia are World Cup hosts Russia.
