Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli may have taken a break from his field duties for fulfilling his social commitments, but he can still make headlines. The cricketer made a surprise appearance in the Class X West Bengal board exams recently.

Well… No! Virat did not appear in the exam physically but he was rather mentioned in the English paper as the students were asked to attempt a 10-mark compulsory question on Virat Kohli.

Laxmi Ratan Shukla, former Indian player and Trinamool Congress legislator in the assembly appreciated the move, saying, “Besides being an icon, Kohli’s life is about dedication, hard work and discipline, which can be an example for students.”

“I appreciate the gesture and I hope in future there will be questions on sporting icons not only in Madhyamik but other board examinations as well,” Shukla told HT.

“It was a compulsory question (of 10 marks). We had to write a short profile based on the points mentioned in the question paper. But Kohli is so popular that even if points were not given, many could have written pages,” Shreya Ghoshal, the student of Midnapore Mission Girls School in West Midnapore district told Hindustan Times.

Virat’s journey from leading India in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 World Cup in 2018 to leading the senior men’s cricket team is truly inspirational for the youngsters.

Virat Kohli had made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka followed by his Test debut in 2011 against West Indies.
