With rumours of a four-week injury lay-off for Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane circling, the 24-year-old took to Instagram to confirm the reports as he revealed he would targeting a return to the pitch by April.

Kane’s ankle got caught by Bournemouth keeper Asmir Begovic in a Premier League fixture on Sunday.

The striker had bravely gone in for an inviting cross knowing he would get clattered by the Bosnian custodian and while he did end up scoring, his effort ultimately went in vain as the linesman raised the flag for offside.

Spurs’ No.10 immediately held up his ankle and appeared to be in serious discomfort as the Physio raced to assist him. Despite receiving medical treatment, the 24-year-old couldn’t continue and walked down the tunnel, sparking fears  of a lengthy injury lay-off.

With the 2018 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, England fans feared that the striker, who’s undoubtedly the Three Lions’ best bet up front, would not be fully fit or worse, could miss the quadrennial extravaganza in Russia entirely.

However, Spurs issued a statement on Wednesday that read, “Preliminary assessments have confirmed that Harry Kane has damaged lateral ligaments in his right ankle. The England striker sustained the injury following a challenge in our 4-1 win against Bournemouth on Sunday and is expected to return to First Team training next month”.

Spurs play Swansea City in a FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday, before taking on Chelsea on April 1 for a Premier League clash and Kane is expected to miss both clashes after his injury diagnosis.
