Auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, India’s biggest cricketing festival, is all set to take off on Friday, 23 December. Several players from India and abroad will be trying their luck to grab the franchise of this coveted event.

Meanwhile, all the ten franchises of the IPL have released the list of players that have been retained and those who have been dropped from their respective teams.

Notably, there were a total of five players who switched teams before the deadline during the IPL trade window. Royal Challengers Bangalore were the first to trade Jason Behrendorff to Mumbai Indians.

Also, Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, traded their spearhead Lockie Ferguson and wicketkeeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Kolkata Knight Riders were more than happy with the deal. Also, GT did not sign any player in return so it completely was a cash deal for Gujarat Titans.

Delhi Capitals also traded Shardul Thakur to Kolkata Knight Riders. In return they signed an uncapped player, Aman Khan from KKR. This adjusted the auction purse of both the teams.

Moreover, there were several players who won’t be part of IPL 2023. KKR’s star all-rounder Pat Cummins has opted out of IPL 2023. Also, their wicket keeper batsman Sam Billings has decided to opt out as he wants to focus on the longer format.

The IPL 2023 will also miss some legendary players on the field. Mumbai Indians’ charismatic Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard has announced retirement from IPL. Also, Chennai Super Kings’ star batter Robbin Uthhapa will also not be part of IPL.

Meanwhile, teams are all set to get into the mini auction battle on the coming Friday. All the ten franchises will be looking forward to bidding on the best players keeping their purse and vacant slots in mind. The most important point which will be a matter of concern for all the franchises will be their team combination.
