The Indian women’s hockey team will aim to extend its unbeaten streak when it begins the Super4s stage of the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in Hangzhou. India will face a stern test against hosts China, defending champions Japan, and Korea in this decisive round of the competition.
Topping Pool B with seven points from three matches, India began their campaign with an 11-0 rout of Thailand, followed by a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Japan and a commanding 12-0 win over Singapore. Forwards Navneet Kaur and Mumtaz Khan have been the standout performers, scoring five goals each, and will once again be key to India’s attacking strength as they target a place in the final.

In the Super4s stage, India, China, Japan, and Korea will play each other once, with the top two advancing to the final and the remaining sides contesting the 3rd/4th place playoff. India begin their campaign against Korea on Wednesday, followed by fixtures against China on Thursday (September 11) and Japan on Saturday (September 13).
India head into this phase with momentum, while Korea progressed with two wins and a loss in the group stage. Recent history also favours India, who have won three of their last five encounters with Korea, with one loss and one draw.
Speaking ahead of the Super4s, Indian women’s team head coach Harendra Singh said, “We are pleased with the way the team has started the tournament. The players have shown good intent, maintained discipline, and capitalised on our attacking opportunities. The pool stage gave us a good platform to build momentum and test ourselves against different styles of play. However, the Super4s stage will be a different challenge altogether as we face strong opponents like Korea, China, and Japan.”
“Our focus will be on sticking to our structure, being sharp in defence, and making the most of our chances in front of goal. We know there is little room for error in this stage, so consistency and composure will be crucial. The players are motivated; they understand the responsibility of wearing the Indian jersey, and they are eager to continue the momentum. If we play to our potential and trust our process, I am confident we can achieve the results we are aiming for,” he added.
