India new Test opener Rohit Sharma on Sunday became the fourth batsman to register a double century in one-day international (ODI) as well as in Test cricket.

He achieved the feat playing against South Africa on Day 2 of the final Test of the three-match series at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi.

Rohit, who already has three ODI double tons (264, 209, 208*), joins Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle in the list of scoring double centuries in both the Test and ODI formats.

Meanwhile, on Rohit’s maiden Test ton, ICC tweeted “200 FOR ROHIT SHARMA. He’s recorded three double centuries in ODI cricket, and now he has one in Tests too. What a knock this has been from the India opener!”

Notably, on Saturday, Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat against South Africa which proved to be a prudent decision as India were 416 for 6 by the time the news was written.
