Taking note of the fatigue factor, India has fielded a second string team for the tour of Zimbabwe and senior players such as skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina,Rohit Sharma,Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin and Umesh Yadav have been rested.

The Indians have just finished a disappointing tour of Bangladesh, losing the ODI series 1-2, completing seven months of continuous cricket. In this backdrop, selectors have decided to give the younger players a chance. As a result, Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the Zimbabwe tour as the Indian team captain. 

"Until the players themselves request for a rest, we don ‘t rest them," Sandeep Patil, the chairman of the selectors said. "We sent a full-strength side to Bangladesh, but this time the players communicated to us that they needed the rest."he added.

While Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped, the national selectors have placed lot of youngsters to the squad of 15.

Senior team  – Ajinkya Rahane( Captain), Murali Vijay, Ambati Rayudu, Manoj Tiwari, Kedar Jadhav, Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey,Harbajan Singh, Akshar Patel, Karn Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni, Stuart Binny,Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma and Sandeep Sharma.

The tour comprises three ODIs and two T20s. The team will depart for Zimbabwe on July 7 and the first match of the tour will be played on July 10.

The selectors also announced the India ‘A’ squad for two four-day games to be played against Australia’A’. Selectors have again put faith in Cheteshwar Pujara in leading the side.
