A perfectly normal conversation and an innocent joke from Herschelle Gibbs to Ravichandran Ashwin turned into a blame game and later Ashwin blamed Gibbs for match-fixing, before backtracking.
Recently, Ashwin had posted a promotion post of a shoe brand on his Twitter handle and captioned it: “Hey Guys! Just got my hands on the new NIKE React. It’s got a stunning design and the foam technology used makes it light and comfortable to use. Undoubtedly, the best running shoes I’ve stepped into, can’t wait to flaunt them. #NikeReact #InstantGo #teamNike”

Responding to the Tweet, Gibbs wrote, “Hopefully you will be able to run a bit faster now ashwin 😂”. Clearly, it was meant to be a joke but Ashwin’s reply to the comment started a storm on the social networking site.
Hopefully you will be able to run a bit faster now ashwin 😂
On Gibbs’ comment, Ashwin replied, ” Surely not as fast you did mate, unfortunately I wasn’t as blessed as you were. But I was blessed with a wonderfully ethical mind not to fix games which put food on my plate.”
However, later Ashwin deleted this Tweet.
With Ashwin’s reply, Gibbs was speechless and believed that it’s good to move on from the topic.
“Can’t take a joke i see😉 anyway moving swiftly on..,” Herschelle Gibbs wrote.

I totally believed my reply was a joke too, but look how people and yourself perceived it. I am totally game for this sort of fun mate, we shall dine over this sometime.😂 https://t.co/Z7YdXQnxeD
What’s sensitive to me isn’t to someone else, and what’s sensitive to you isn’t to me. I want to respect my family of fans and hence pulled the tweet down, and now entertainment over for all my haters. See you later😂

While the public sentiment in Ahmedabad could be understood, Pandya faced similar booing during his team’s second outing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The Chennai spinner, who currently plies his trade for the Rajasthan Royals franchise, said when he was first picked for the league, his only focus was to learn from international cricketers who were his teammates at various franchises.
Ashwin, who debuted in November 2011, becomes the 14th Indian player to play 100 Test matches for India. The veteran off-spinner also becomes just the second bowler after Muttiah Muralitharan to achieve 500 wickets in less than 100 Test matches.
