IPL 2024: Dube stars in CSK’s clinical win over Titans

In yet another twist to the Mohammed Shami-Hasin Jahan controversy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed to the Kolkata Police that the Indian cricket team pacer stayed in a hotel in Dubai for two days in February, this year.
According to a report in the Indian Express, Praveen Tripathy, Joint CP (crime), Kolkata Police, said, “We have received a letter from BCCI which shows that Mohammed Shami was in Dubai on 17th and 18th February. We are investigating the other things related to it.”
BCCI’s response came after a letter was sent to the Board by the Kolkata Police seeking Shami’s schedule last month. The police sought the details to check if Shami had gone to Dubai as claimed by his wife Hasin Jahan. However, police are yet to find out whether it was Shami’s personal tour or was sponsored by BCCI.

Earlier, Hasin Jahan had accused Shami of domestic violence, adultery, attempt to murder and even match-fixing.
“If Mohammed Shami can cheat me then he can cheat the county as well. He accepted money from a Pakistani girl named Alishbah in Dubai. He agreed to accept it after the insistence of England-based Mohammed Bhai. I have proof,” Hasin Jahan was quoted saying to ABP News.

Following Hasin Jahan’s complaint, Kolkata Police had filed an FIR against Mohammed Shami under sections 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (Causing hurt), 307 (Attempt to murder), 376 (Punishment for rape), 506 (Criminal intimidation), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence.), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
