Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth saw them overtake Liverpool in the top-four race, but Sunday’s win came at a steep cost as star striker Harry Kane limped off with an injury and manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed the hitman had twisted his ankle, making him a major doubt for this next week’s FA Cup quarter-final with Swansea City.

“Harry twisted his ankle. We’ll see tomorrow after a scan,” Pochettino stated after the tie.

Kane bravely went in for a cross knowing Asmir Begovic would clatter him and while he did score, his joy quickly turned to despair as the Bosnian custodian inadvertently caught his ankle and to rub salt on the forward’s wounds, the linesman had raised his flag for offside.

The 24-year-old Kane immediately held his foot up and grimaced with pain as the club doctor raced onto the pitch to assist him.

Despite receiving medical aid, the striker, who’s topping the Premier League scoring charts along with Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah (both have scored 24 times), trudged off the pitch and went down the tunnel to spark fears that the injury was worse than initially feared.

Heung-Min Son ensured Kane’s absence wasn’t too keenly felt as a brace from him and goals from Dele Alli and Serge Aurier ensured Spurs overcame an early deficit to register a resounding win to claim third spot in the Premier League table.

Kane’s had problems with his ankle before and with the 2018 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, England and Spurs will be hoping Monday’s scans don’t reveal a lengthy injury lay-off.

Spurs may be out of contention in Europe and the Premier League, but remain in the top-four race and are contenders to lift the FA Cup as well, so they can ill-afford their No.10 to be on the sidelines for too long.
