Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has penned a two-year contract extension with the Premier League champions, the Sky Blues announced on Friday.
“Manchester City are delighted to announce Gabriel Jesus has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Club until 2023,” the club stated.
City beat off stiff competition from some of Eurorpe’s elite to land the then teenaged Brazilian from Palmeiras in 2017.

Since then, the fleet-footed striker’s gone from strength to strength, scoring 24 times in just 53 games.
“I would like to thank the fans for the welcome and for how well they have treated me. I can say that it was the best decision I’ve made in my life to come to Manchester City because whilst I’m here I’m improving as a professional and as a person,” the 21-year-old enthused.
Manager Pep Guardiola prefers Jesus to club stalwart Sergio Aguero and the Brazilian forward was quick to point out the Catalan’s role in getting him to sign for the Manchester giants.
“Also thanks to the Club for being so organised and focused since I arrived. Pep (Guardiola) had an important role in my signing, but also the Club. City is a huge Club and it is getting bigger and bigger so I just want to say thanks for everything. I hope that I can keep making the fans happy.”

It’s been a productive summer for the Sky Blues, despite the fact they have made just one senior signing in Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for £60 million.
The Algerian winger’s acquisition adds extra firepower to an already formidable squad.
Ahead of the 2018/19 Premier League season, City are the bookmakers favourites and Jesus will seek to repay his employers faith when the Community Shield comes around on Sunday.
