IPL 2018 final | SRH vs CSK: Stats review

Riding on Australian cricketer Shane Watson’s exceptional unbeaten 117-run knock, Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings thrashed SunRisers Hyderabad by eight wickets to clinch its third Indian Premier League title at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

1- SunRisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson scored 735 runs in the 11th season of IPL and in the process became third highest run-getter in a single edition. The first and second spot in the list is reserved by Virat Kohli (973 for in 2016) and David Warner (848 for SRH in 2016).

2- On Sunday, SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled 10 consecutive dot balls – joint-most by any bowler in the final match of the tournament. In IPL 2010, Mumbai Indians’ Dilhara Fernando had also bowled 10 dot balls against Chennai Super Kings.

3- Only two players have scored 100 runs in the final of T20 tournament while chasing – Shane Watson against SRH in IPL 2018, Suresh Raina against Kolkata Knight Riders in Champions League T20 final in 2014.

4- Four players have scored more than one century in a single IPL season. Shane Watson joined the elite club of Chris Gayle (2011), Virat Kohli (2016) and Hashim Amla (2017) on Sunday.

5- In IPL 2018 final, Australian all-rounder Shane Watson scored unbeaten 117 runs – the second highest by a batsman in a T20 tournament final. West Indies’ Chris Gayle has scored 146* for Rangpur Riders against Dhaka Dynamites in the BPL 2017 final.

6- Shane Watson scored 117 runs off 57 balls with a strike rate of 205.2 – most by any player in an innings of 50 or more while chasing a target in the IPL final. The previous record was held by Chris Gayle. He had scored 76 runs off 38 balls with a strike-rate of 200.00 for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Bengaluru in IPL 2016.

7- In IPL 2018, Chennai Super Kings hit 145 sixes – most by any team in a single season of the league. RCB players have hit 142 sixes in the IPL 2016.

8- Four times CSK thrashed SRH in IPL 2018, Chennai have become the first team to beat any team four times in a single season.

9- Three times Chennai have won IPL trophy, which brought them on a par with Mumbai Indians.

10- CSK skipper MS Dhoni has won seven (three IPL, Two CLT20, one World T20 and one Asia Cup T20 tournament) T20 tournaments – most by any captain.
