Two times champion Chennai Super Kings have returned to Indian Premier League (IPL) after the suspension for two years due to the spot-fixing and betting scandal that rocked the tournament in 2013 and they have found the perfect return.

On Friday, MS Dhoni’s boys will take on IPL 2016 winners SunRisers Hyderabad in a high-voltage clash for IPL trophy. Ahead of the much-awaited clash, talking to media in the pre-match conference, CSK skipper Dhoni said that the team was disappointed to not play at their home ground Chennai, but were happy they could play at least one game at MA Chidambaram Stadium or Chepauk Stadium.

“The emotional aspect was more at the start of the tournament. Once the tournament starts, you have to be more professional than emotional about it. Yes, we are a bit disappointed that we couldn’t play matches in Chennai, but at the same time, we are still happy that we at least one game happened in Chennai because the fans were waiting for a long time for this moment,” MS said.

“The last two years we were not there but our fan following kept increasing, the fans were waiting for us to come back and start doing well. It’s unfortunate that we are not playing in Chennai, but as I said, being professional is more important,” said Dhoni.

The IPL 2018 saw the return of the two IPL franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. And after their return to T20 carnival of India, CSK franchise were able to play only one game in Chennai, when they faced Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders in a high scoring contest on 10 April 2018.
