Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli is very vocal about the pride he takes in representing his country. Though Virat Kohli often takes a break from his field duties to ensure his body is well rested, the 29-year-old Indian skipper believes in giving it his 100 per cent every time he walks to the ground.

On Sunday, India registered a thumping eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the opening One Day International (ODIs) match of the series, powered by the captain’s 140-run knock.

Needless to say, Virat Kohli’s statement on late Sunday night, that he has “a few years left” in his career, did not go down well with his fans. The Delhi batsman’s post-match comment has left his fans wondering if Virat Kohli is planning an early retirement.

“I have a few years left in my career to enjoy this sport. Playing for the country is a matter of pride and a huge honour. You can’t afford to take any game lightly. You got to be honest to the sport and that is when the sport gives you back. I try to do that. That’s my basic thinking, because you are playing for India and not everyone gets to do that,” Virat Kohli was quoted as saying at the post-match press conference.

In Guwahati on Sunday, in the first ODI match of the five-match series between India and West Indies, Virat Kohli smashed his ‘majestic’ 36th limited overs hundred as the hosts took a lead of 1-0 in the ongoing series.

Chasing a mammoth total of 322 runs, India did not get off to a great start as they lost Shikhar Dhawan in only the second over. However, after Dhawan’s dismissal, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma make a mockery of the Windies’ total. The Men-in-Blue won the match in 42.1 overs with eight wickets to spare.
