India’s upper order batsman KL Rahul, who is expected to return to Team India’s playing XI in the first One Day International against Australia of five-match ODI series, seemed in high spirits ahead of the blockbuster series, starting Saturday.

Aaron Finch-led Australian stunned Virat Kohli and co. by winning whitewashing the host team in two-match T20I series. Team India will look to returning to winning ways when they will take on Australia in the limited overs format.

Though Australia blanked India in T20I series, there were a few positives for Men-in-Blue, one of them being KL Rahul’s return in form. The Kings XI Punjab opener slammed a quickfire fifty in Vizah and then fell three-run shorts for another half-century in Bengaluru.

After his brilliant batting display in T20I series against Australia, the Karnataka cricketer took giant strides in the latest ICC T20I rankings and is the lone Indian in the top-10 batting list.

When asked about his ups and downs after getting axed from Team India, Rahul admitted that being away from the team has helped him get humbler and grow both the personal and professional front.

“It has humbled me a little bit. I obviously respect the opportunity I have got to play for the country. It is the dream of every kid and I am no different. Just to value where I am and keep making the opportunities count, put my head down and keep working on my cricket,” Rahul said.
