India returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, dropping just one game in a dominant 3-0 victory over Mongolia in the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group I tie at the DLTA Complex on Friday.

With the hosts now sitting at two wins and two losses, they will wrap up their round-robin campaign against the Korea Republic on Saturday.

India’s dominance was absolute from the outset, as Zeel Desai and Sahaja Yamalapalli both registered flawless 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective singles matches. Desai, stepping in for Vaishnavi Adkar, dismantled Anu-Vjin Gantor in just 37 minutes, dictating play from the baseline and never allowing her opponent to settle.

Yamalapalli followed suit with an equally clinical display, overpowering Jargal Altansarnai by the same scoreline to seal the tie early for India.

The hosts carried their momentum into the doubles, where Adkar teamed up with Rutuja Bhosale to complete the rout. The Indian pair proved too strong for Khongorzul Aldarkhishig and Altansarnai, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win to cap a near-perfect outing.

Elsewhere, the Korea Republic and Indonesia squared off in a crucial clash between the top two teams, with their head-to-head record evenly poised at 5-5. Korea drew first blood as Dayeon Back maintained her unbeaten run, edging past Priska Madelyn Nugroho 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 in a tightly contested encounter.

In another tie, Thailand moved closer to victory against New Zealand. Anchisa Chanta gave Thailand the early advantage with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Aishi Das, while Patcharin Cheapchandej was leading Valentina Ivanov in the deciding set at the time of writing.

With all six teams competing in a round-robin format, the race for the top two spots, and qualification to the next stage, will go down to the final day.
