World Number 1 India overwhelmed Afghanistan in their debut Test match on Friday (15 June) as they thrashed the visitors by an innings and 262 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Indian team under the captaincy of Test specialist Ajinkya Rahane finished the Test match in two days by bowling out the Afghan team twice on the second day in two consecutive sessions. The India vs Afghan Test match was called “the historic Test” as the Afghanistan team became 12th Test-playing nation and 2nd team this year after Ireland to acquire the Test status.

Though the match was finished in six sessions, a number of records were broken and re-written.

1- Lowest Innings totals at Chinnaswamy Stadium

Afghanistan team was bowled out twice for 109 and 103 in the first and second innings, respectively. This is also the lowest totals ever scored at the Chinnaswamy ground.
