England cricket team is the table toppers in the International Cricket Council One Day International rankings released by ICC on Monday. India and South Africa are on number two and three, respectively.

Australian cricket team have slipped to the sixth position on the ICC table after losing the first two ODIs of the five-match series against England. The last time, when Australia was at such position was in January 1984.

Talking to media at the post-match press conference after Australia’s loss in the 2nd ODI, Shaun Marsh said: “We felt like we were in the game right until the end, unfortunately, we just weren’t good enough.”

“We probably lost wickets at key times in our innings again and we couldn’t really build big partnerships at the start. We’ll have to be better in a few days’ time,” Marsh added.

“We know we need to improve a fair bit to get that win. We’re heading in the right direction but we still need lots of improvement,” Marsh further said.

As Australia slipped down to their lowest rank in 34 years, Pakistan move a step ahead and are currently at the fifth spot in the ICC table. Now, in order to move up in the ranking, Australia need to win at least one out of the three matches of the ongoing ODI series against England.

Australia will face England next on June 19 for the third ODI.
