“This is to inform you that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Boxing Federation of India will be held on 21.08.2025 at Delhi-NCR at 11:00 a.m. The Member States/UT Associations are requested to send the names of their two representatives, as per the provisions of the BFI Constitution approved by World Boxing, to the BFI office email before 5:00 p.m. on 04.08.2025,” the circular stated.

The tenure of the previous BFI office-bearers ended on February 2. Although elections were initially scheduled for March 28, legal disputes—including multiple appeals and counter-appeals—led to their postponement. The Returning Officer also resigned during the process.

Amidst internal conflict, World Boxing intervened and, on April 7, appointed a six-member Interim Committee led by Ajay Singh to manage the day-to-day affairs of the federation and resolve all issues.

The Interim Committee was initially formed for a period not exceeding 90 days, but its tenure was extended with a renewed mandate to conduct elections by August 31, in line with World Boxing’s deadline.

Meanwhile, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) formed a three-member committee on July 11, headed by IOA Treasurer Sahdev Yadav, along with Bhupender Singh Bajwa and Advocate Payal Kakra, to look into the delay in holding the BFI elections and suggest a roadmap for “fair and timely elections.”
